• The hated wife wants to divorce the Hero General Chapter 04

The hated wife wants to divorce the Hero General! I don't believe in suddenly returning and become doting

    Chapter 04: Who are you?!

The General Alendio returned to Royal Capital two days before expected celebration of the triumph.
To be precise, I heard he was back some minutes ago from my colleague, though.
The long procession of horsemen coming into the castle, I did see it in the morning, but from a window, I've work to do.

Everyone said, "Why don't you go to pick up your husband?"
But the last time I saw him, he was 15, and now he's 25, so I can't tell who he is from a distance.
Also, I'm sure he won't care if I go or not, so I decided to go directly to my office as usual.
According to the maidservants who witnessed the event...
    - General Alendio had a magnificent face and cool blue eyes, and his muscular physique was more intimidating than any other man -

"Is it called having an aura? That divine figure of his... so beautiful~~~ I thought I was going to fall over!"

It seems that Alendio was so cool that even Sabrina, who was in a great love affair, was having troubles controlling her breath.
    "Ahhhh...."
    "Such a beautiful face~"

I just go along with it, as if I were listening to some poet singing in the middle of the street.

"Come on! If you don't go now, some girl will steal him away!"

What do you mean by "steal"?
He is not mine to begin with.
We are almost strangers, the only thing we share is the same line in the family register.

I'm sure my husband will hate it, if the first thing that he sees when come back is me.
"Ohhh, when will the two of you meet again?"

Oh, Sabrina's sparkling eyes are awkward.
I huffed and looked away, even though I hadn't even made eyes contact with her yet.

    "The paperwork is more fun!"
"That's not fun! Really, Soaris you're a girl so weird"

Sabrina giggled, she thinks that I'm going to stay married to him for a long time....
I have a "divorce petition" in my pocket right now~~
These past ten years on the battlefield, should have been terrible for him.
No matter if it was him the one who volunteered to go to war, I still don't believe that the thin, frail Alendio, I used to know, became a General just for fun...
    No, I know the truth.

It must have been a tremendous amount of sweat and blood shed, something that I can't even imagine.
And if the wife you hated so much, the reason why you preferred to go to the battlefield, just appears to greet you and enjoy part of the glory you fought so much to win...

My mind wouldn't support the pain, if he tells me, "What are you doing here? "
The grown-up Alendio, what kind of man is he now, I don't know, but I know how much he must hate me "his wife by obligation".
If you don't want to treat me like a real wife, that's fine for me.
At the very least, I hope he's a gentleman with enough common sense to take the divorce petition and sign it.
    It's just...
It's not that I hadn't ever imagined that he would come back at all.
In the beginning, I had thought that he would come back soon after the war was over.

After about five years or so, I began to hear about General Alendio's activities in the royal capital, and I asked him to return to the earl house, even when had a hunch that it wasn't going to happen.
And it was true... we haven't seen each other for the last ten years.
There's no need anymore to get trapped in a "family registry relationship" as wife or husband or whatever.
After much deliberation, I decided that this divorce petition would be the best reward for his hard work I can give him.
My parents will be devastated, so I'll just report it after the process end.
I don't want to be disturbed with their tears and complaints!

Plus I have a job and real friends.
As an adult now, and I have no intention of taking advantage on the accomplishments of my husband, who is almost a stranger to me.
... After living like this, a part of me understand why he preferred to take the sword instead of "the bag of gold", yes, that was me.
There was a pride in him that money can't buy... Just as I've now working in my own job.

"Let's have a cup of tea."
"Oh, I'll bring the pot of tea then! And we have a special nut butter today."

The leftover snacks from the Princess's Tea Party of the other day, that I organized, were in the big iron plate Sabrina was carrying.
I gingerly raised my hands and stretched, trying to take a mental break.

Even though it's a job I love, my shoulders and back are stiff from sitting down on the desk all the time.
I'm only twenty-two years old, but everybody says I act like an older woman... That's another reason for not making Alendio more disillusioned.
Well, he didn't like me to begin with, in fact, he doesn't like me, and it's too late now to change this situation.
    *TOC**TOC*
Just when I was starting to wander in my mind, there was a knock on the door.
    "Who's there?"

Sabrina had a cup in her hand, so I decided to go myself to check who knocked.
Then through the door I asked, "Who are you?"

If he was already an acquaintance of us, he would have come in as soon as he knocked.
The fact that he was waiting until he was called out in a disciplined manner means that he must be from another department, not the Princess's.

    "........."

He didn't answer for a while, so I asked again.

    "Who are you?"

Then this time a low voice replied.

    "Soaris?"

    Do you know me?
There are only a few people who call me by my first name.
But no name comes to mind for such a voice, even so, I just didn't sense any hostility, so I quietly opened the door and tried to identify the person.

"I'm Soaris, the safe keeper, what can I do for you?"

Pulling the inner door open with only a movement, an armor stood at a closer distance than I expected.

    "Eh..."

As I slowly raised my eyes, there was a knight with dark hair and blue eyes.
He was probably close to 190 centimeters tall... he was a knight so tall that I, who was 165 centimeters tall, had to look up quite a bit.

    "..."

Our gazes meet... I'm pretty sure we've met before, I'm sure of it.
But has there ever been such a rugged man among the knights of the King's guard I've met in the castle?

Someone with such a beautiful face, I wouldn't forget it once I saw it.

    "Well..."

I was about to repeat once again, "Who are you?" when that Knight with his gallant face twisted his expression as if he was overcome with emotion.
It's as if he has met his beloved again.....

Uncomprehendingly, I took a step back.
But before I could escape, I was trapped by a long, strong arm.

    "Kyaaaaaah!"

    "Soaris! I'm back!"
    "Help! Help!"

    My arms hurt!
    So tight!
    Your armor is cold!
Why is this man hugging me!

As I was helplessly slumped in his arms, the guards and gate-keepers of the Princess' palace, who had heard my screams, desperately helped me out.
Turning to me in confusion, he gave the guards a sharp look, and said
"Let go! Release me at once! I just had a reunion hug with my wife!"

    "Ha... ?"

    Am I hallucinating?
As I stood there, puzzled, he turned his smile on me again.

    "Soaris. Finally, I've found you...!"

    Could this possibly be him?

    "A-- Alendio, Mister ...?"

When I called his name, his eyes widen, and he hugged me again, squeezing me tightly.

    "Soaris!"
    "Wait! Wahh!"

The armor is breaking my chicken bones... my back and arms are aching unbearable!

"General! Calm down, please! If you don't, you'll crush your wife!"

The guards desperately tried to pull him away, and Alendio (who is supposed to be) finally realized that I was being crushed.

"Ah! Soaris, I'm sorry. It's just... the joy of seeing you again"

Did the world go out of control? I thought I was going to die!
Breathing raggedly, I was so exhausted that I couldn't utter any words.

    "Eh, is-- really-- Alendio?"

"I've missed you...! 10 years was a long time, so long, but we'll get our wedding ceremony as soon as possible! Because we were going to have it when you turn 17, that was 5 years ago! Ohh, I'm sure you will be the most beautiful bride in the kingdom."
    "..."
"Over and over again I dreamed of the day I would meet you again. But now I realized that my imagination was a poor one. The real you in front of me is so bright and beautiful."

Alendio smiled shining brighter than anyone else's.
Everyone here, including me, is in a state of shock.
Even when they don't want to say it out loud, they all have a face of puzzled after hearing him call me "Beautiful" And they are wondering what to do.
Don't worry, I fiercely agree with you!
If anything, I can be barely called "average", the only compliments I receive are for my hair, but in terms of facial beauty, body, and everything else I'm absolutely average!
You're a man and even you are more beautiful than me! I'd like to say it aloud but...
This is so unexpected that my mind stopped... No, it's as if time itself had stopped.

    "Hmm? Soaris? What happens?"

He asked quizzically when I didn't say anything in return.
The corridor was still and quiet.
    All eyes focused on us.
After taking a long breath to recover, I finally shouted my best words... or the only thing that has come to my mind.
    "Who are you?"

Alendio doesn't speak so much like this!
He didn't like to touch my hair even less hug me, he didn't even try to make eye contact with me once!
I've seen many scams, but I've never seen a scam this messy!
    It's a lie, I know it's a lie!
As I observed him closely, he narrowed his eyes happily and said.
"I've grown taller, and my physique has changed. Didn't you see that coming?"
It would be too much of a change.
If this really is Alendio, ten years is too frightening.
"Come on, Soaris. Let's go home."

"What? Go where? I have a job...!"

As if everyone misunderstood it, when I tried to resist, they pushed me and I was taken away by "my husband".
This was the only time that my bodyguard did not do his job!

I looked at him bitterly as if he had abandoned his duties, but he looked away from me easily.

Apparently, he was too afraid of the General.

I gave up, and for the first time in five and a half years, I had to leave early.
